On Friday, August 28th we went to Zion National Park. Zion is a pretty park but it is really hard to see it. The parking areas are small and the crowds are large so the solution is to have you park at the visitor center and ride shuttle buses around the park. I sat next to the window and got to see some. Wayne sat in the aisle seat and saw very little. Our enjoyment of a park is hiking and taking pictures. Many of my pictures have flare from the window of the bus. The good hikes were long or difficult, so not doable. It was also very hot. I guess you can tell we were disappointed. We also attribute part of our disappointment to the fact that we saw the North Rim of the Grand Canyon the day before which is a VERY hard act to follow. We have been fortunate on the trip this summer to have very limited crowds and have gotten spoiled by being able to take our time and enjoy where we were visiting. Maybe we should try Zion again in the off season...if there is an off season.
We did like driving through the 1.1 mile tunnel that connects the park to another highway. We have biked through tunnels that are that long. What made this tunnel unique was they had cut out "windows" to add light.
One of the windows for the tunnel
The windows really add a lot of light

The buses - good for the environment and to solve the parking issues but not our style
