Wednesday, August 5th. Wayne washed the Jeep. It had accumulated quite a bit of dust. Spanish Trail charged $5 if you wanted to
wash your car. That was a great deal,
the spray car wash in town was $2 a minute and it would have taken much longer
than 5 minutes. It was time to head to Torrey,
Utah.
We stopped in Green River to get fuel for the RV. Next
door was a fruit stand selling Green River melons. We had a delicious Green River watermelon on our
rafting trip. So I went over and got
one. We arrived in Torrey, Utah at
Thousand Lakes RV Park and had a late lunch.
We did our trip to the Visitor Center in Torrey which is County sponsored and got some great information. The Capitol Reef Visitor Center was just down the road, so we drove there and we got more information and saw the film. There is a Fremont Petroglyph Wall near the visitor center. It was pretty good.
There was a "heated" pool at the campground, so we had to check it out. Well...our pool in Florida is set to 86 degrees which is wonderful...this one was heated...but not 86, it was chilly.
The best thing about the day was the AMAZING sunset ! All we can figure out is that it was a windy day, so the clouds must have had some red dust. We were there for a week and checked the sunset every night. This was the only orange one.
Thursday, August 6th we started the day by hiking the Fremont River Trail. It follows the river and then you go up a steep path on the side of the mountain to enjoy the views at the top. The round trip was 2 1/2 miles.
Wayne hiking up Fremont River Trail, most of the trail looked like this.

After our picnic lunch we hiked to Hickman's Arch which was almost 2 miles.
This was a little arch along the way

Friday, August 7th was our first real rain day. So no pictures. We did chores around the RV. We drove over to the few gift shops in town and checked them out. Our only purchase was a pair of hiking socks. We also drove through the community of Teasdale. I could not figure out why anyone would live there...then I turned around and oh, what a view! we could tell it was pretty even in the rain!!!!
